Wide coil slit into strips of the required widths.

Process

A wide master coil is passed between counter-rotating circular knives and slit lengthwise into narrower strips (slit coil) of the required width. It is used as an intermediate step for lines that need narrow strip input, such as automotive parts and pipe or profile production.

Process Steps

01The mother coil is loaded on the uncoiler and the head end is fed into the knife set.
02Upper and lower circular knives are arranged with spacers to the required strip widths.
03The coil passes between the knives and is cut lengthwise; edge trim strips are separated.
04The strips are wound onto individual coils via a separator and tension unit (recoiler).
05The coils are strapped and labelled.

Typical Material Thickness: Depends on line class: light-gauge slitting lines approx. 0.3 - 3 mm, more on heavy-gauge lines
General Tolerance Class: Strip width, camber and edge burr tolerances follow the classes of the product standard (e.g. EN ISO 9445-1)
